Can I clear the patio when we're not eating?

Yes. Stack all six armchairs into a single column, lift the column to one side, and the patio floor is back inside a minute. Most 6-seater rectangular dining sets commit the full footprint to dining every day of the year, whether the chairs are in use or not. We chose this set for the range because customers kept telling us they wanted a proper six-around-the-table for the family meals that warrant it, without losing the patio for the kids, a barbecue, or a clear walkway the rest of the week.

A brushed aluminium handle is built into the back of every chair as the lift point, so you grip the metal rather than pulling on the weave and the frame doesn't twist as you lift. You can lift a chair onto the column one-handed if you're carrying plates back inside with the other.

Will six people actually fit and have room to eat?

Yes. Six round a rectangular table gives the head-of-the-table seats for grandparents at the ends, room for serving platters down the middle, and three people facing three across the table for natural conversation. In dining mode, allow roughly 3 metres of length along the wall plus a walkway behind each chair for pulling out. Mark the footprint with masking tape on your patio first if you're unsure, that's usually enough to confirm the fit.

The rectangular shape also lets you push the table flat against the wall behind it between meals, something a round 6-seater can't do. Once the chairs are stacked, the table itself takes a fraction of the dining footprint.

Is it really all-weather, no cover needed?

Yes. The frame is aluminium, which cannot rust, and we use a 0.2mm powder coating, two to three times thicker than what most aluminium garden furniture carries, so the coating doesn't break down through wet winters and freezing nights. We also use UV-stabilised synthetic rattan, which won't fade, rot or go brittle when left outside year-round. The 5mm tempered safety glass top doesn't crack in British winters the way ordinary glass can.

This means the structure is fully weatherproof and doesn't need a cover or storage, so it saves you the hassle and the £50 to £100 a cover would cost. In our experience, customers come back ten or fifteen years later saying their rattan is just as good as when they first bought it.

How does this compare to other 6-seater rectangular sets at this price?

Cheaper 6-seater rectangular dining sets at this size use steel frames that rust within a couple of winters and PVC rattan that goes brittle in the sun. You'd be replacing the set sooner and dealing with rust streaks across your paving in the meantime. The chairs on those sets rarely stack either, so once the rust starts there's nowhere to tuck them out of sight while you decide what to do.

Can I leave this rattan dining set outside all year round?

Leave it out through every season - the aluminium frame cannot rust and the UV-stabilised HDPE rattan will not fade or go brittle. We treat covers as optional for convenience, not something the furniture needs to survive winter.

Does this Sharnford stacking dining set come with cushions?

No. This set is sold as chairs and table with the 5mm tempered safety glass top. In our experience, a lot of customers prefer this because there's no "cushion chore" every time the weather changes. If cushions are a must for you, have a look at our dining sets where they're included as standard.

Is the glass top safe for outdoor use?

Tempered safety glass at 5mm thick - it's heat-treated to handle the temperature swings you get in British weather, where a warm afternoon can turn into a cold night. It also gives you a wipe-clean surface for everyday meals.

Is "Latte" the same colour as grey rattan?

No. Latte is a warm tone (often described as cappuccino) that suits traditional gardens and brick patios where grey can feel a bit harsh. It's still neutral, just warmer. The rattan is UV-stabilised HDPE, so the colour will not fade in the sun.

Are the chairs easy to stack and move?

The chairs stack on top of each other, and the brushed aluminium handles give you a proper grip when lifting and aligning them. Our customers tell us this is what makes stacking a regular habit rather than a once-a-season job.

Can I see the Sharnford Stacking range in your showroom?

Our Leicestershire showroom at Sapcote Garden Centre has the Sharnford range on display - come and sit on it before you buy. Our helpful and knowledgeable staff can walk you through the stacking mechanism in person. We've found that stacking chairs feel different from fixed dining chairs, so seeing them helps.

Do I need a cover for this set in winter?

No. The aluminium frame cannot rust and the HDPE rattan will not degrade, so a cover is not needed for protection. Some people still use one simply to keep the table cleaner between uses - that's convenience, not necessity.

What's the difference between this and cheaper 6-seater rattan d

The frame. Steel-frame sets rely on powder coating that can't fully seal joints and bolt holes, meaning corrosion starts from the inside out. This set uses an aluminium frame that cannot rust - no coating to chip, no internal corrosion to hide. The weave matters too: HDPE rattan holds its colour and shape, while the PVC rattan on budget sets cracks and fades after a couple of summers.

How much assembly is required?

Only the table. The chairs arrive fully assembled and stack when not in use. The table base is four panels that screw together and then screw to the tabletop. All screws are included, and a screwdriver is the only tool you should need.

Delivery is included in the price, 3-7 working days to mainland UK. Your furniture is delivered on pallets via our courier, and we'll email you a timed delivery window so you're not waiting around all day.

Worth knowing: our courier delivers to the kerbside or driveway, they won't take items around the back of the house, and the pallet and boxes are left with you. If you'd prefer a white-glove delivery with set-up and rubbish taken away, get in touch and we can usually help.

We dispatch from our Leicestershire garden centre. "In stock" means we have it here, ready to send, not drop-shipped from a third-party warehouse.

Returns: if you're not happy, let us know within 7 days and you can return it within 30 days for a refund (minus return delivery costs). The furniture must be in its original condition and packaging, and we'll arrange the collection with you.
