Garden Centre Shopping reclining rattan garden chairs are weatherproof and aluminium-framed, built to leave outside all year (no cover required). Family-run from our Leicestershire showroom since 2001, with cushions, delivery, and a 3-Year Rust-Free Structural Guarantee included on every set.
Our reclining chairs are what we'd recommend when the patio is where you go to settle in for an afternoon, not just sit upright between activities. Backs that lean from fully upright down to almost flat, and footrests on most of the range, so you can read or doze without moving to the sofa indoors.
Garden Centre Shopping has sold rattan since 2001. Every set in this range is built on the same aluminium frame that cannot rust, the same UV-stabilised HDPE rattan, and the same 10cm cushions used across our Sapcote, Burbage, and Burton ranges.
Garden Centre Shopping Reclining Chairs. Adjustable Backs For Sitting In For Hours.
Garden Centre Shopping reclining chairs are what we'd recommend when you want a chair that adjusts to where your back wants to sit, not one fixed at the upright angle a dining set comes with. We've watched, since 2001, which reclining sets get used every weekend and which gather dust under a cover after the first winter. Our reclining chairs are built on the same aluminium frames and HDPE rattan as our larger ranges, with reclining mechanisms that go from upright to almost flat rather than locking through three preset positions.
- Strong Aluminium Frame That Cannot Rust: Every frame in this range is aluminium, which physically cannot rust. We use a 0.2mm powder coating on top, 2.5 to 3 times thicker than the 0.06 to 0.08mm coating most aluminium frames are sold with. That coating thickness seals the metal through repeated frost cycles. Steel frames in less expensive sets rust from the inside out through bolt holes and joints, and once that starts, you'll see orange staining on the patio underneath.
- UV-Stabilised Rattan That Won't Fade: We use UV-stabilised HDPE rattan in every set in this range, hand-woven over the aluminium frame. We don't use the PVC rattan that dominates the supermarket end of the market, because PVC contains plasticisers that escape under UV exposure, turning chalky and cracking at the weave joints after a couple of summers in direct sun. HDPE doesn't degrade that way. We have customers coming back into the showroom 15 years later, quite often, with rattan that's still perfectly fine.
- Thick Cushions With Washable Covers: Our cushions are 10cm thick, with breathable, non-waterproof fabric and removable washable covers. At 6 to 8cm, the cushions in less expensive sets compress under you within 30 to 40 minutes, and you start to feel the rattan through. Ours hold their shape across the kind of afternoon a reclining chair is meant for. Our covers slide off in seconds for a wash, which on a chair you settle into every weekend matters more than it does on a set you only sit on briefly.
- Leave Outside All Year, No Cover Required: Every set we make in this range has an aluminium frame and UV-stabilised HDPE rattan, so there's no rust, no fading, and no cracking at the weave joints. We back that with a 3-Year Rust-Free Structural Guarantee on every set. We don't ship covers because they're a problem in themselves: they degrade in UV after a couple of summers, blow off the patio in strong wind, and you'd lose track of yours by next spring anyway. Our sets stay where you left them in October and look the same the first March after you buy them.
- Ready To Use Straight Away: Most sets in this range ship ready-assembled from our Leicestershire warehouse. The Burbage chair backs slot into the bases, which takes a minute. The Burton, Sapcote, and Sharnford sets need at most a glass top set on the table frame and the chair backs clipped in, but even then it's minutes, not hours. We designed the range that way deliberately, because a reclining chair only works if you can sit in it the day it arrives, not the day after you finish assembling it.
- Lean Back To Any Angle, Not Three Preset Positions: We use a hydraulic side-handle on the Burbage reclining range, so the back leans through any angle from upright to almost flat. Pull the handle, settle where your back wants to be, let go. Most reclining chairs at the supermarket end of the market use a notched mechanism with three or four preset positions instead, which is fine for sitting up at a table but useless if you want to read at the specific angle your back actually prefers.
Garden Centre Shopping Reclining Sets. Sized From 2-Seater Bistros Up To 6-Seater Lounges.
We've designed the reclining range to scale from a tight 2-seater bistro for two people reading on a balcony to a 6-seater lounge for a full afternoon outside with the family. Our pieces come in brown, grey, stone grey, cappuccino, latte, dark grey, and natural rattan, across reclining bistros with footrests, rocking-and-reclining bistros, reclining sofa lounges, and round reclining dining sets. We'd recommend starting with the five sets below.
- Burton Reclining Rattan Bistro Set with Built-in Footrests in Grey Rattan - The Burton Reclining Bistro is the entry into the range at £674 with delivery included, sized for two people with reclining backs and footrests built into the front of the seat. The chairs recline, the footrests fold up from underneath, and you don't need to buy separate footstools or find somewhere to store them. Grey rattan, two-piece set.
- Sapcote Reclining Rattan Bistro Set in Grey - Our Sapcote Reclining Bistro is the set we'd recommend when you want classic reclining chairs with matching footstools that pull out and store back under the chairs. Two reclining seats, two separate footstools, and a small table between, all in grey rattan. £874 with delivery included.
- Burbage Rocking & Reclining Rattan Bistro Set in Latte - The Burbage Rocking and Reclining Bistro is what we'd recommend when you want both the rock and the recline on the same chair. The chairs rock and recline on the hydraulic side-handle, so you can lean back to any angle while the seat still gently rocks underneath. £1,074 with delivery included for the latte two-piece set.
- Burbage Reclining Rattan Corner Lounge Set in Stone Grey - Our Burbage Reclining Corner is the set we'd recommend when you want a full corner lounge where every seat reclines independently. The dinner side stays upright, the lounging side leans back, all on the same set. £2,249 with delivery included for the stone grey variant.
- Sapcote Deluxe Reclining Sofa Lounge Set in Brown Rattan - We made the Sapcote Deluxe Reclining Lounge as the top of the range at £2,999 with delivery included, with deeper cushions and reclining mechanisms on every seat across a 6-seater lounge layout. The table drops from dining height to coffee height, so you can use the same set for a Sunday lunch and then a long afternoon of lying back.
For specific reclining configurations, see rattan recliners with footstools for the matched-footstool layouts and rocking rattan chairs for the combined rock-and-recline mechanism. For non-reclining options, our rattan sofa sets use the same aluminium-and-HDPE build with fixed backs.

Our reclining chairs are for the patio where you actually go to relax, not the patio where you sit upright between activities. The chair you settle into. The chair that goes from upright to almost flat depending on what your back wants. We made these for that.
