The Burbage range gives you any angle from upright at the table to nearly flat. In our experience, the mechanism is what we hear about most in the showroom.

• Recline To Any Angle With A Side Handle: We put the recline lever on the right arm of the chair where your hand naturally rests. Our chairs lock at whatever angle you stop the lever at. Cheaper rattan reclining chairs use a notched mechanism with three or four preset positions, fine for sitting but useless for reading. Our chairs give you any angle in between.
• Aluminium Frames That Cannot Rust: We build every chair from hand-woven HDPE rattan over a powder-coated aluminium frame. We use a 0.2mm coating across every frame, around two-and-a-half to three times what our supplier sees on most aluminium garden frames. Our coating seals the metal through repeated frost cycles. Steel-framed sets at the cheap end of the market rust from the inside out through joints, then start staining your patio orange within a couple of years.
• Hand-Woven Rattan That Won't Crack Or Fade: Our rattan is UV-stabilised HDPE, hand-woven around the frame. Our weave holds its colour and flexibility through full UK winters and summers. We prefer HDPE because the cheaper alternative, PVC rattan, contains plasticisers that out-gas under UV. PVC rattan goes chalky, fades, and snaps at the weave joints within a summer or two.
• Leave Outside All Year, No Cover Required: Our aluminium cannot rust and our rattan will not degrade in UV. Our sets need no cover, no winter storage, no annual fuss. Covers are part of the problem anyway: they degrade in UV themselves, rip in strong wind, and end up in a bin within two or three years. You'd lose the cover by next spring, honestly.
• 10cm Cushions That Don't Compress Over A Long Afternoon: We ship every set with 10cm-thick cushions. Thinner cushions, the 6-8cm ones cheaper sets ship with to keep the price down, feel fine for the first half-hour but compress quickly, and you start feeling the frame underneath. Our cushion covers come off for washing. We advise storing the cushions inside when you're not using them, because we hate waterproof cushions: they trap heat, feel clammy, and crack under UV after a couple of summers anyway.
