Feature Highlights

01Rock or lock, your choice each time you sit down
A gentle rock with the morning paper, the chair locked still for an afternoon nap, somewhere in between for an evening drink. Most reclining bistros do one or the other; this one does both, and you change the setting per session.
-
02Stop at the angle that actually suits a book
Pull the arm lever, ease back into the chair, and stop where it suits you — the chair won't shift from that angle. Notched recliners click between three or four presets, fine for upright or fully laid back, useless for the in-between angle that suits a book or a long read.
-
03Built to live outside year-round, hinges and pivots included
Aluminium frame with a 0.2mm powder coating, covering the recline pivots and the bolts where a steel-frame recliner would corrode first. The hand-woven synthetic rattan is UV-stabilised, so the cappuccino doesn't fade through summer sun and winter frost. Leave it outside all year, no cover needed.
-
04Cappuccino brown for warm-toned patios
The cappuccino weave is a warm coffee-brown, softer than the dark grey that has been the default for years. It looks right against red-brick walls, timber decking, and warm-stone patios, where a cold grey set can look like a slab on the floor. UV-stabilised, so the tone doesn't fade year on year.

What does rocking and non-rocking actually mean on this set?
Each chair has two settings. Lock the rocking off, and the chair won't shift from whatever recline angle you set — what you want for a post-lunch nap. Leave the rocking on, and the chair rocks gently against your weight — what you want for a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. You change the setting every time you sit down.
Most reclining bistro sets do one or the other. They recline and stay still, or they rock and don't recline. We designed this set to do both, because the way you use a bistro set in the morning is not the way you use it after Sunday lunch.
How does the recline mechanism work, and is it going to seize after a winter?
There's a lever on the arm of each chair. Lift it, lean back, let go where it feels right, and the chair won't shift from there. Lift it again and the chair comes upright. The recline runs continuously rather than stepping through preset notches — you pick the angle. Customers tell us, when they replace a notched recliner, that none of the three or four preset clicks was ever the angle they actually wanted for reading or napping.
The hinge points, the bolts, and the pivots are all aluminium throughout — the parts where a steel-frame recliner corrodes first. Aluminium cannot rust, so the moving parts don't seize through wet UK winters the way our customers say their old steel recliners did inside two or three seasons.
Will it fit a balcony or a small patio?
This is a bistro footprint, two chairs plus a small side table, so most balconies, sun-trap corners, and terraced courtyards accommodate it without crowding planters or blocking a back door. The chairs are deepest when reclined with the rocking unlocked, so plan around that position.
Mark the outline on the floor before you order with masking tape, sit a kitchen chair in the centre, lean back, and confirm the back-door swing and the planted border still clear comfortably. If you would like us to talk through your specific space first, call us on 01455 274748.
Is it really all-weather, no cover needed?
Yes. The frame is aluminium, which cannot rust, and we use a 0.2mm powder coating, two to three times thicker than what most aluminium garden furniture carries, so the coating doesn't break down through wet winters and freezing nights. We also use UV-stabilised synthetic rattan, hand-woven over the frame, which won't fade, rot or go brittle when left outside year-round.
The structure is fully weatherproof and doesn't need a cover, so it saves you the hassle and the £50 to £100 a cover would cost. In our experience, customers come back ten or fifteen years later saying their rattan is just as good as the day they bought it. Bring the cushions in of an evening; a deck box or a shelf indoors keeps them dry between uses.
How does this compare to other reclining bistro sets at this price?
Cheaper reclining bistros at this size use steel frames that rust at the hinges and bolts where the recline mechanism collects moisture. They pair the frame with PVC rattan that goes brittle in the sun, and a three-or-four-notch recliner that locks you into preset angles. You'd be replacing the set sooner and dealing with rust streaks on your paving in the meantime.
Considering a brand-name reclining bistro at £2,000 or more? You'd be paying mainly for the marketing and the polished website. The actual furniture is almost exactly the same as ours: aluminium frame, UV-stabilised rattan, hydraulic recline. We design our own Burbage range and sell it direct from our family-run Leicestershire showroom since 2001, without the excessive markup of big name brands.
