Here is some more information about what makes our rattan furniture weatherproof, and answers to other FAQ’s.

What makes our rattan furniture weatherproof?

Not all rattan is made equal, and ours is the cream of the crop! The key to having a weatherproof set of rattan furniture is the quality of the materials used, which comes in two parts: the frame, and the weave.

The Frame Material – Aluminium

So when metal is left outside, it needs to be able to withstand the cold and wet weather associated with the British isles. Cheaper metals such as steel would rust and degrade over time when left outside. However we use Aluminium which does not rust, maintaining the integrity of the frame over time, and allowing you to leave it outside all year round.

The Weave Material – UV Stabilized

One of the issues that cheaper alternatives have is that their weave colour fades over time. This leaves you with a set that’s patchy and not the original colour you bought. Not our rattan. We use synthetic strands that have been UV Stabilized, which simply means they won’t fade, because they have been protected from the suns rays. This keeps your set looking amazing for years to come.

Is it that old wooden rattan material?

No this is not the same as natural rattan (a plant based material). This is synthetic rattan, made from plastics and hand woven in strands to give the benefits of natural rattan (such as comfort) while being durable and weatherproof.

Can you leave this garden furniture outside?

Yes you can leave weatherproof rattan outside, just like all other weatherproof garden furniture.

What brands do you stock?

We stock Majestique rattan furniture by Innovators International.

We have seen other brands such as Royalcraft, Bridgman, Bramblecrest, LeisureGrow, Alexander Rose, and Cozy Bay; however we have found Majestique to be the best quality at the price points our customers are comfortable with.

What about waterproof cushions?

Waterproof cushions have come to the market over the last few years, offering people the chance to leave them outside along with your furniture. However, we are not a big fan of these cushions, due to the look and feel of them. They feel artificial and rough to the touch, and don’t represent the luxury and quality that our customers love about outdoor furniture. That’s why we have chosen not to stock waterproof cushions.

How can I tell if my rattan furniture is weatherproof?

If you already have a set of rattan and would like to know if it’s weatherproof, there are a few things you can check.

Can I make my existing rattan furniture weatherproof?

It would be very difficult to make your existing rattan furniture weatherproof, as you would have to alter the entire frame (if it was steel) and potentially treat all individual strands.

It would be much easier to buy some more rattan furniture.
